Our Collection is

100% Biodegradable

We only use certified biodegradable fabrics in our collection. Our dresses are made of Tencel™ and Cupro that are sourced from Italy. Tencel™ is manufactured from the wood and cellulose of sustainably harvested FSC certified beech wood plantations. Tencel™´s ecological footprint is that the fiber is economical in its use of energy and natural resources, and most importantly it is fully biodegradable. On top of that, Tencel™ has anti-bacterial properties and it is a fabric recommended for people with sensitive skin.

Cupro on the otherhand is made from cotton linter, a waste product of cotton. It is produced in a closed loop like Tencel™, which means that the chemicals used can be extracted afterwards and the water can be reused. Since Cupro is 100% plant based, it is also biodegradable.

Both Tencel™ and Cupro are built for longevity. They also have an extremely smooth, soft surface that drapes beautifully to flatter every figure. Don´t forget to check out our care instructions in each product info page to know more on how to extend the life of a Sage Winther dress.

Slow Fashion

A report at Ellen Macarthur Foundation (2017: New Textiles Economy: Redesigning Fashion´s Future) calculated that more than $500 billion of value is lost every year due to clothing underutilisation and the lack of recycling. Most of these wastes are sent to landfill or incinerated. We do not want to be part of this problem. Through on-demand production, we will make the dress when you order it. We will not produce a dress that we may never sell.

Ethical Production

Clothing production is one of the world´s biggest and labour-intensive manufacturing industries. Many  fashion brands are sourcing their clothes from countries with cheap labour costs and poor environmental governance. At Sage Winther, we value fair trade. The clothes are 100% made in Europe, we care about: our workers safety, a balanced work life and an appropriate compensation that meets legal standards. When you shop ethically, you know you’re buying from a company that is neither wasteful nor cruel: you’re buying from a company that cares.
